RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Labor Day weekend is upon us for that last blast of summer, but AAA is reporting the highest gas prices ever this holiday weekend. National gas prices are above $4 a gallon on Friday. Here in Virginia, the average price is $3.95 a gallon, 95 cents more than this time last ye ar.  “We are seeing the highest gas prices for Labor Day that we’ve ever seen," said Morgan Dean, a spokesperson for AAA.  In fact, Dean said gas prices last broke records at $3.69 in 2012. (AP Photo/Jenny Kane) Those flying to destinations may also see higher price tags, with flights to popular areas up as much as 20% with rising fuel costs.   “When we looked at hotels, they were up a few percentage points as well," Dean said. "On the flip side of that, cruises were down about 4%.”  As for getting home, Dean said Monday, Sept. 7, is going to be the busiest on the roads.
