9-4-26- Nick Griffin INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — After nearly four decades of making audiences laugh, comedian Nick Griffin is bringing his stand-up act to downtown Indianapolis this weekend. Griffin performs Saturday at Mad Hatter Shows in downtown Indianapolis as part of a two-night run in the area. He performed Friday at the venue’s Greenwood location. Griffin began performing comedy as a college junior in Kansas City, inspired in part by his love of David Letterman. Three years later, he moved to New York City to pursue comedy full time. He spent years performing midnight shows in Greenwich Village, honing his act in some of New York’s toughest comedy rooms. Griffin’s persistence eventually led to appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “Conan.” He also made 11 appearances on David Letterman’s show. A talent scout from Fallon’s show discovered Griffin at a New York City comedy club and booked him for television. Beyond performing, Griffin has writing credits that include Keenen Ivory Wayans’ talk show and Tom Papa’s show. Griffin’s PG-13 material centers on relationships and observational humor. His delivery often relies on carefully timed pauses that give his punchlines extra impact. Offstage, Griffin is an avid horror reader and counts Stephen King and Dean Koontz among his favorite authors. He also spends time pacing around his New York City apartment, working out new jokes. Griffin takes the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Mad Hatter Shows in downtown Indianapolis. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets range from $31.08 to $49.67. Seating is first come, first served within each section, and the show is recommended for audiences 17 and older. Griffin continues to tour throughout the Midwest.
