Police have released surveillance video in the hopes of tracking down a gunman who, officials say, waited in the parking lot of a North Philly gas station for, at least, an hour-and-a-half before robbing a worker at gunpoint on Aug. 31, 2026. On Friday morning, officials shared surveillance video of the incident on social media. According to police, the incident seen in the footage happened at about 12:37 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2026, when an armed gunman — described as having a medium build and wearing a black hoodie and baseball hat at the time the crime occurred — held a worker at a North Philly gas station at gunpoint before stealing deposits from the previous day as the employee planned to head to the bank. Officials said video showed the armed assailant parked a newer model Hyundai Elantra in a parking lot at a Global Gas Station, on the 2200 block of Allegheny Avenue in North Philly, at about 11:15 a.m. that day, about 90 minutes before the crime occurred. After waiting until the worker came out of the business and robbing the victim, the gunman returned to the Hyundai and sped off headed westbound on Allegheny Avenue, officials said. Police believe the gunman was driving a vehicle with a temporary tag that read 4691-295 — though, officials said, that number shows no record in the law enforcement databank.
