Matt Bevin was arrested Thursday in Paris by the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office due to an outstanding bench warrant, then booked into a Louisville jail that evening.Bevin was arrested on the set of a Christmas movie being filmed at a Par is horse farm estate. According to Jessica Mohr, the owner of the Houstondale, the former governor was playing the role of a “featured extra” on camera.Matt Bevin was arrested in Paris, Kentucky by the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office on Thursday, September 3, 2026.(Booking photo / Jailtracker)“The sheriff showed up and was asking some people if they'd seen his picture, and a young man was like, ‘I think that gentleman's inside,’” Mohr said. “And then there he was, and he was sitting there speaking to the lead male actor, and yeah, he was arrested.”The former governor had an active bench warrant against him in Jefferson County, where a judge found him in contempt of court for not turning over required financial documents to the court in his divorce and child support case.Sheriff Tony Asbury said in a press release they received a tip that Bevin was “a participant in a film project” being filmed there and had an arrest warrant, which is information they verified before arresting him at the set.“The Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office contacted Former Governor Bevin at the location reported and he was taken into custody shortly after and lodged into the Bourbon-Nicholas County Region Detention Center without any issues as Bevin was very cooperative,” Asbury stated.Bevin was booked into the Louisville Metro Detention Center Thursday evening, where he was charged with resistance to a court order.Kentucky Public Radio was the first to report Thursday that Bevin was arrested on the film set where he was playing an extra.Mohr said cable television company Great American Family was filming its latest movie at their property, called “The Greatest Christmas Gift of All.”“My understanding is that originally (law enforcement) knew where he was because he posted a picture of himself with the (lead) actor,” Mohr said. “I'm pretty sure he deleted that picture.”Jefferson Family Court Judge Angela Johnson issued two arrest warrants over the summer against Bevin in the case. The first warrant was for Bevin’s failure to appear in person for a May court hearing, which he blamed on a “very large boulder” going through his vacation home in Maine. That warrant was rescinded after he paid a fine, but Johnson in June issued another bench warrant over the financial disclosures, which Bevin could not pay a fine to get rid of.Johnson sentenced Bevin on June 6 to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.With that outstanding arrest warrant in place, Bevin did not appear in person at his next court hearing on July 28 in Louisville. At that hearing, both his ex-wife Glenna Bevin and estranged son Jonah Bevin testified in person. Bevin had participated in past hearings on Zoom video, and while a party attempted to join several times in that hearing, they were dropped from the call after the person failed to identify themselves.Jonah is seeking child support from his parents due to the Bevins allegedly abandoning him in a notoriously abusive Jamaican facility for troubled youth that was shut down while he was there.Bevin, a Republican, was elected governor in 2015 and served one term. Despite Kentucky being a conservative state, he narrowly lost his reelection bid to current Democratic Gov.
