Some businesses begin with a business plan. Others begin with something much more personal. For Griselda, the woman behind The Modern Balloon Co., it began with her seven children. “My children are my greatest motivation and the reason I started my small business at the end of 2024,” Gris elda shares. As a mother of seven, a foster parent, and an adoptive parent, family has shaped not only Griselda’s life but also the purpose behind her growing business. Inspired by Family Griselda’s journey as a mother eventually led her to become a foster parent. In 2017, she adopted through the foster care system, an experience she says deeply shaped who she is today. Her children inspired her to turn her creativity into something that could support her family while also giving her an opportunity to make a difference in her community. “I started my business because of my seven children. They are my biggest inspiration and motivation,” she says. “My children are the heart behind my business and the reason I continue to pursue my dreams.” That inspiration became The Modern Balloon Co., a Fresno business offering custom balloon backdrops and arrangements for birthdays, celebrations, and special occasions. More Than Balloons For Griselda, creating something beautiful for a celebration is only part of what makes the business meaningful. Since launching The Modern Balloon Co., she has used her talents to support causes close to her heart. She has provided backdrops for local National Adoption Day celebrations and donated balloon arrangements to community blood drives. “Giving back has always been something I am passionate about, and I hope to continue using my business to bring joy, support meaningful causes, and make a positive impact,” she says. That connection to the community is especially fitting given Griselda’s own experience with foster care and adoption. What began as a creative outlet and a way to support her family has also become another avenue for giving back. A Personal Touch for Every Celebration Whether she is creating a balloon arrangement or an entire backdrop, Griselda wants each project to feel personal. “What makes my business unique is the love, passion, and personal touch I put into every creation,” she says. “I take the time to make each balloon arrangement and backdrop special and personalized to the occasion.” Her mission moving forward is simple: continue growing while staying connected to the reason she started. “My mission is to continue growing my business while staying true to the passion and purpose behind it. I want to create beautiful, meaningful experiences for others.” For Griselda, The Modern Balloon Co. represents much more than balloons and backdrops. “This business is more than just a small business to me.
