COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Funeral service for a fixture in the Benedict College family has been announced. The funeral for Willie Washington will take place Wednesday, September 9 at 11 a.m. at First Nazareth Baptist Church, 2351 Gervais St. Benedict College announced Washington died on Monday. He was 79-years-old. Washington started his career in Benedict as the men’s basketball coach in 1988 and was named the Athletic Director in 1998.
