A storm blowing west, well south of the islands, before it veers north sharply … when have we seen that pattern before? It was in 1992, when Hurricane ‘Iniki came close to Oahu’s west side before it hit — hard — on Kauai. Hurricane Lowell, which has reached Category 5, is likely to follow a similar path.
