Jurors in the criminal trial of Lindsay Clancy were sent home Tuesday without reaching a verdict after earlier telling the judge they could not reach a unanimous decision in the case of the Massachusetts mother accused of killin g her three young children in 2023.The judge instructed jurors to continue deliberating after they reported being deadlocked Tuesday. They deliberated for the remainder of the day before being dismissed without reaching a verdict.Jurors began deliberating Thursday afternoon and continued Friday, Monday and Tuesday. The jury could also find her guilty of lesser charges, including second-degree murder or manslaughter.Clancy could also be found not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility, commonly known as an insanity defense. Such a verdict could result in Clancy being committed to a mental health facility rather than serving a prison sentence.During the 22-day trial, jurors heard from more than 70 prosecution witnesses and 10 defense witnesses.Clancy and her defense team argued that she had been suffering from postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder and had repeatedly sought help for her mental health struggles.
