INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. A recovery organization in Marion County is expanding its help for women trying to overcome substance use disorder.On Tuesday, Dove Recovery House for Women unveiled its $4 million expansion and renovation of its Marion County facility, adding 8,000 square feet of space and room for 15 additional women to receive residential treatment completely free of charge.The newly expanded facility also includes an updated kitchen and dining room, along with new administrative offices.The project is part of a larger expansion for Dove House. With the recent opening of its Bartholomew County location, the organization has increased the number of women it can serve statewide each night from 55 to 85.For women who are ready to seek treatment, the cost can often be one of the biggest obstacles. Dove Houses model eliminates that barrier by providing its services at no charge.Those services include residential housing, therapy and peer recovery support. The organization also uses trauma-informed care, which focuses on understanding how past experiences can affect a persons recovery.The work is just beginning. The expansion of the Marion County facility and the opening of Bartholomew County prove that not only does the Dove House model work, but that also there is still not enough support for women with substance use disorder, said Dove House CEO Wendy Noe.Dove House says more than 70% of its residents successfully complete the program each year.With the additional space in Marion County and the new Bartholomew County location, Noe says they are now positioned to help more women take that first step toward recovery without having to worry about how theyll pay for it. ...read more read less
