AUBURN, Ind. (WRTV) A routine traffic stop turned into a roadside delivery early Sunday morning when an Indiana State Police trooper helped deliver a baby along I-69.According to ISP, Trooper Waterhouse was patrolling outside A uburn when he spotted a vehicle driving at an "extremely high speed."After the trooper stopped the vehicle, he quickly learned the situation was urgent. The driver told him his wife was was in active labor.This is when police say Trooper Waterhouse sprung into action, grabbing his medical kit to help.By the time he got back to the car, the father had already began delivering the baby.During the delivery, Trooper Waterhouse noticed the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby's neck. "Acting swiftly and calmly, he carefully unwrapped the cord," police said.Moments later, the baby was crying and breathing on their own.Trooper Waterhouse wrapped the baby in a blanket and put them safely in the mother's arms just as a medical team arrived.The mother and baby were transported to a local hospital were they were both reported to be healthy."As an Indiana State Police Trooper, no two days are ever the same.
