A New Jersey man was sentenced to several years behind bars after driving over 100 miles per hour and killing another driver in 2022, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office. Gabriel Woolson, 26, was going westbound on the South Black Horse Pike in Williamston in a 2011 Chevrole t Corvette ZR1 at 110 m.p.h. on Dec. 14, 2022 around 5:40 p.m. when the crash happened. As Woolson was driving westbound, 52-year-old Evan Silverstein was going eastbound and crossed into the westbound lanes to make a left turn. The crash resulted in Silverstein’s car being spilt in half and the front half launched more than 100 feet into the parking lot of a nearby shopping mall. Silverstein was ejected from his car and died from his injuries. A passenger in Woolson’s Corvette was also hurt. Investigators said that Woolson’s Corvette reached 119 m.p.h. just three seconds before the crash happened and Woolson did not activate the brakes until one second before impact. In June of 2026, a jury found Woolson guilty of second-degree death by auto charges while a judge found him guilty of reckless driving and speeding. The judge also found him not guilty of assault by auto for the injury his passenger got in the crash.
