Russell Wilson has added a new title to his résumé: racehorse owner.
The former NFL quarterback celebrated his first victory as an owner on Saturday. His 2-year-old colt, Club Reign, won the opening race on Saratoga Race Course’s Travers Day card by six lengths.
Wilson attended the race wi

Club Reign was making his first career start and delivered a dominant performance after entering the race at 8-1 odds. The colt is trained by Whit Beckman. He was ridden by jockey Edgard Zayas, as reported by Blood Horse.
For Wilson, the win marked the beginning of a new venture.

The retired NFL star recently launched Three Brand Racing with his wife, making Club Reign the operation’s first starter.
“Man, what an exciting day,” Wilson said, as reported by Times Union. “We’re so excited for Three Brand Racing and, obviously, Club Reign. What a blessing. We were so fired up about this horse. We felt like we had a tremendous athlete in this horse. (He’s) our first one for me and Ciara and our team, our Three Brand Racing team, and to come out here and to win in Saratoga — and he won by a lot. He’s a fast horse.”
Three Brand Racing takes its name from Wilson’s apparel company, 3BRAND. The football star said his interest in horse racing goes back years.
Wilson’s brother, Harry Wilson, who lives in Louisville, Kentucky, helped inspire him to take the next step and become an owner.
Ciara and Wilson’s oldest daughter, Sienna, also rides horses, giving the family another connection to the sport.

“We felt like this would be a good thing for the family,” Wilson said. “No matter what happens, let’s do some cool stuff. I love competing, I love our family competing, and our Three Brand Racing team loves it, too.”
Video captured the Wilson family as Club Reign crossed the finish line, showing the family jumping and cheering as their horse took first.
One commenter wrote beneath the clip, “It’s giving black wealth and excellence.”
Another added, “Russell and Ciara are building their generational wealth.”
Supporters left comments like “This is what we love to seeee” and “Rich family activities.”

Purchased for $475,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training, the colt is a son of Core Beliefs and out of Bag of Tricks, a stakes-placed mare by Bernardini.
Ribble Farms and Walmac Farm are co-owners. Walmac bred Club Reign in partnership with Gary Broad.
The victory gave Wilson a familiar feeling. He spent 14 seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Seattle Seahawks, and built a résumé that includes 10 Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl championship.
Wilson led Seattle to its first Super Bowl title in 2014, when the Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
He later played for the Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants before retiring from football and joining CBS Sports as a studio analyst.
Even with a Super Bowl ring already in his collection, Wilson said seeing Club Reign win produced a rush of its own.
“Obviously,” Wilson said, “there’s nothing like holding that Lombardi Trophy in front of hundreds and hundreds of millions of people. To win on Travers Day, to win in Saratoga first race out, it feels like (winning) rookie of the year.”
The celebration also included a familiar reference to Wilson’s football career. Zayas approached him after the race and repeated the quarterback’s former Denver Broncos catchphrase, “Broncos Country, let’s ride.”
“He comes right up to me and goes, ‘Let’s ride,’” Wilson said. “So, that was funny.”
For Wilson and Ciara, Club Reign’s first race was more than a successful debut. And if Saturday’s six-length victory is any indication, Three Brand Racing may have found a strong start.
Wilson and Ciara are parents to three children together: Sienna, born in 2017; Win, born in 2020; and Amora, born in 2023. Ciara also has a son, Future, born in 2014 from a previous relationship with rapper Future.
She is the founder and CEO of Beauty Marks Entertainment (BME), a company at the forefront of the evolving music industry. She and Wilson also co-founded 3BRAND, which has found success with its moisture-wicking shirts.
