Woman killed, man seriously hurt after car ran stop sign in Delaware, police say

A woman was killed and a man was seriously injured in a crash Thursday in Laurel, Delaware, according to Delaware State Police.
Troopers said that at approximately 5 p.m. on Aug. 27, a Nissan Frontier was traveling westbound on Salt Barn Road, approaching a stop sign at Old Stage Road. At the sam
e time, a Kia Sportage was traveling southbound on Old Stage Road, approaching Salt Barn Road.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Nissan ran the stop sign and struck the front driver’s side of the Kia.
Officials said the driver of the Kia, a 54-year-old woman from Delmar, Delaware, died at the scene. Her name has not been released.
The driver of the Nissan, a 63-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash.
