A nine-month-old baby is dead and his mother and 5-year-old sister are hospitalized after they were hit by a car in a grocery store parking lot on Friday morning, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. Officers from the Jackson Township Police Department were called to the Jackson NPGS grocery store on West County Line Road around 11:55 a.m. on Aug. 28 after a crash was reported, officials said. When they got to the scene, officers said that a mother and her two children had been hit by a car in the parking lot of the store. All three were taken to a nearby hospital where the nine-month-old baby boy was pronounced dead, officials reported. The boy’s mother and five-year-old sister are in stable condition. Investigators revealed that Maria CobonGuzman, 20, was driving a Ford Fusion when she hit the mother who was pushing her children in a baby carriage through the parking lot. Officials say that CobonGuzman does not have a valid drivers license. She was charged with manslaughter and other related charges. Ariadna Lazaro-Flores, 22, is also charged in connection to this incident for allowing CobonGuzman to drive the Ford without a license, officials said. Both CobonGuzman and Lazaro-Flores were arrested and are being held in the Ocean County Jail as they wait for a detention hearing. The crash is under investigation. ...read more read less
