Indianapolis police say a man died early Friday morning after being hit by a car on Indy's northeast side.Online police reports show Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of East 38th S treet and North Irvington Avenue just after 1 a.m. on a "person down" report.There, they found a man who'd been hit by a vehicle. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.A public information officer at the scene said that after the man was hit, the female driver of the car drove off. A witness drove after them and forced them to stop and return to the scene.It's not clear if the pedestrian was walking in the road or on the sidewalk at the time of the accident.
