(WRTV) -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency on Friday will open six of its eight planned mobile registration centers to help people apply for aid following mid-August storms that brought a derecho, widespread power outages and flooding to Indiana, the state's Department of Homeland Security said Thursday.The centers will serve as temporary, in-person locations where teams will help people submit their initial applications for federal assistance. Staff from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security will also be available to make sure residents are registered for 211 services.Officials said residents do not need to bring any specific documentation to register. No appointments are required, and residents can walk up during the scheduled operating hours.The registration center will follow a major disaster declaration from the Trump administration, which approved millions of dollars in federal aid for 21 Indiana counties. Gov. Mike Braun announced the approval Tuesday night in a news release.While the release did not specify the exact amount of funding that FEMA will distribute, Braun said the total would reach into the millions. On Thursday, Braun had asked for the aid to be fast-tracked to help residents and local governments rebuild infrastructure.The disaster declaration provides both individual assistance for households and public assistance for infrastructure repairs in the following counties: Carroll, Dearborn, Decatur, Delaware, Fayette, Franklin, Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Lake, LaPorte, Madison, Marion, Morgan, Porter, Pulaski, Randolph, Rush, Tipton, Union, and Wayne.Additional assistance for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities was approved for Delaware, Fayette, Franklin, Hamilton, Henry, Lake, LaPorte, Madison, Porter, Tipton, and Wayne counties.State and federal officials continue to review damage data, and more counties may be added to the list.The centers will be open at these times and locations: Delaware County: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at EMS Station 3, 4501 E. Marion County: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Broad Ripple Family Center, 1426 Broad Ripple Ave., Indianapolis. Lake County, Crown Point: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Monday at Lake County Purdue Extension, 2291 N. Main St., Crown Point. Lake County, Gary: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sept. 3 at United Steelworkers Local 1014, 1301 Texas St., Gary. Lake County, Hobart: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Hobart Fire Station No. 2, 2411 W. Ridge Road, Hobart.
