LOUISIANA mdash; A 33-year-old woman was killed early this morning when a tree fell on her camper in the small Iberville Parish town of Maringouin. This was one of several reported downed trees following early Thursday morning storms.Cindy Perritt died around 4:30 a.m. when the tree came down on he r camper, according to Capt. Hosea Anderson of the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office."It was a very large tree, so they had some issues trying to move it. With help from some local volunteers, we were able to get the tree off the trailer."Anderson knew Perritt, and said she will be deeply missed in the community."This hits kind of close to home," Anderson said. "She was a very kind person, lovely person; every time you see her she would smile."In Baton Rouge, crews spent the morning at a home on Breckenridge Avenue removing a tree that snapped and fell on a roof. Neighbors told WBRZ off camera that no one was inside when the tree fell.In neighboring Pointe Coupee Parish, a tree fell across False River Road, blocking morning commuters for nearly an hour.The storm left more than 18,000 people without electricity across the state, though data shows nearly all of those customers have since had power restored.WBRZ reached out to Entergy Louisiana for exact outage numbers and more details on what caused the outages but has yet to hear back.Permalink| Comments ...read more read less
