Victory Brewing in Center City had visible mouse droppings, roaches: Officials

Victory Brewing in Center City was closed on Wednesday after the Philadelphia Health Department said the restaurant was not in compliance with several health codes, including rodent and insect control.
During an inspection on Tuesday, Aug. 25, officials wrote in a report that they observed mouse
droppings, live mice, roaches and flies in prep, bar and storage areas.
Among their findings, officials said there were:
Live roaches observed a glue trap under the soda machine cabinet in the prep area
Live roach observed on the floor near the chlorine sanitizer container corner
Small flies observed near the food prep sinks in the prep area and in the lower level bar area
Live mouse observed stuck on a glue trap in the cabinet beneath the beer spouts in the lower bar area
Live mouse observed running in the basement storage area
According to officials, mouse droppings were found:
on the shelves beneath the beverage prep area in the prep area
beneath the steam table in the prep area
on the shelf beneath the oven in the prep area
on top of the cans and food containers in the dry storage / utility sink area
on the shelf in the server station near the prep area
on the shelf in the corner of the bar area
around the oven in the prep area
beside the reach-in freezer in the food prep sink area
in the corners near the server station outside the prep area
under the cabinet beneath the spouts in the upper level bar area
around the perimeter of the upper level bar area
on the ledge of the upper level bar area near the window
along the perimeter of the brewery prep area
in the utility closet
in the lights closet
along the perimeter of the basement storage area
along the perimeter of the lower level bar area
Other violations included issues with employee’s not washing their hands, the presence of grime and debris, as well as food storage issues, according to the report.
The location was ordered to close for at least 48 hours, pay a fee and get the department’s approval before reopening, according to the report.
Victory Brewing commented on their closing on Instagram, saying, “We are currently closed as we address issues identified during a health department inspection on August 25th.The cleanliness and safety of our taproom are of paramount importance to us. They are ingrained in our daily routines and reinforced by the professional partners we work with. We have always been in compliance with the health department since opening, which is why we take this week’s report extremely seriously.We have maintained regular pest control service with a professional provider since opening, and they are on site working alongside our team to address the concerns identified during the inspection. We are taking immediate action to resolve all issues and will reopen only when they have been fully addressed and the taproom meets both our standards and those of the health department.We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you back soon”
The post also said that the location would reopen on Thursday, Aug. 27.
