Courtesy of Lincoln Police.LINCOLN–(KFOR Aug. 26)–There’s been an increase in e-bike and scooter thefts so far this year in Lincoln, compared to a year ago. Since January, 98 e-bikes and scooters have been stolen, a jump from 70 during the same time period in 2025, according to Lincoln Police public information manager Erika Thomas. She says 73% of the stolen e-bikes and scooters had unknown serial numbers. Additionally, 68% of them were left unlocked and this year, only 9% of e-bikes and scooters have been recovered. Thomas says this coming Monday evening from 5-to-8pm over at Speedy Pete’s at 48th and Van Dorn, LPD will partner with Lincoln Fire and Rescue, Safe Kids Lincoln-Lancaster County and Speedy Pete’s e-bikes for a back-to-school bike and e-bike safety open house. ...read more read less
