INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) -- Two men will spend more than two decades combined in federal prison for an armed robbery at a Carmel pharmacy.U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker sentenced Mikhal Hamilton, 26, to 13 years in federal pr ison, followed by three years of probation. In March, a federal jury found Hamilton guilty of federal robbery and weapons charges. David Washington, 24, of Arcadia, previously received a nine-year federal prison sentence, followed by five years of probation, after pleading guilty to similar charges.The robbery happened the morning of June 25, 2023, at the CVS Pharmacy that's southwest of the roundabout at East 116th Street and South Rangeline Road in Carmel.According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Hamilton jumped over the pharmacy counter and pointed a gun at an employees face, demanding she open a safe. The safe contained various prescription pills. Washington filled bags with the bottles before both men fled north in a blue Chevrolet Impala.Carmel Police Department officers located the car nearby. During a chase, Hamilton threw pill bottles out of the window before officers stopped the vehicle. Inside the car, officers found pills, bottles, and two handguns.Hamilton has a criminal history that includes felony convictions for identity theft and carrying a handgun without a license.The FBI and the Carmel Police Department investigated the case. ...read more read less
