BATON ROUGE mdash; Gov. Jeff Landry announced on Monday morning that the United States and Louisiana State flags will fly at half-staff on Monday and Tuesday in honor of LSU Baseball legend Skip Bertman.Bertman is revered as the architect of LSU Tiger Baseball for transforming the program from an a fterthought in 1983 into a five-time national champion by the time he retired from coaching in 2001. He died at 88 following a brief hospitalization due to heart-related issues."His impact on the diamond transformed college baseball, but his legacy off the field will be felt forever," Landry said on Monday.A celebration of life for Bertman will be held on Tuesday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center at 7 p.m. following a private memorial gathering for family and former players at 4:30 p.m.Doors will open at 6 p.m.nbsp;The event will also be broadcast live on ESPN+ along with the LSU Sports YouTube and Facebook pages.Permalink| Comments ...read more read less
