A firefighter was taken to the hospital after suffering an injury while battling two house fires in Dallas on Sunday afternoon. Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) crews were sent to a house located at 6931 Echo Bluff Dr. around 6:26 p.m. after someone called 911 reporting a fire. Firefighters observed h eavy fire conditions in the back of the home when crews arrived at the one-story residence. Hand lines were deployed, and crews initiated an offensive attack, but the fire began spreading to a neighboring home at 6933 Echo Bluff Dr., resulting in the dispatch of a second alarm response. No human occupants of the home were injured, but DFR personnel were able to resuscitate a cat. One firefighter was taken to the hospital after suffering a non-life-threatening injury to an upper extremity during fire operations. The fire was brought under control around 7:15 p.m., but DFR personnel continued working the scene to knock down hot spots and ensure no further extension before officially declaring the fire extinguished.
