The Pierre soccer program has had a busy start to their 2026 season. Tuesday, they hosted Sioux Falls Jefferson, one of the classifications top programs, and split between the boys and girls. Then on Thursday, Watertown came to town boasting a top program as well. Saturday would mark their third dou bleheader in just five days as they headed to Sioux Falls Christian. The boys had a score to settle with Christian after the postseason bout a year ago. Christian won that match 1-0, but many predicted that game to be much more lopsided than the final. Pierre wanted to show they had taken a big step forward and used that as a building block, and Sean Blanchette’s team did just that. The boys now sit at 0-2-1 on the season, but have managed their way through the initial gauntlet of their schedule. The girls came into this season with championship aspirations. After starting 2-0-0, they picked up another big win defeating Christian 2-0 in the Saturday matchup to stay undefeated. Pierre now looks ahead to Tuesday when they will host Huron, whose girls just snapped a 111-game losing streak. We will have the coverage on River 92.7 and DRGnews.com beginning at 3:30 PM CT. ...read more read less
