An altercation over a crash involving an electric bicycle escalated into a shooting in South Philadelphia early Sunday, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. Police said two men, ages 29 and 33, were injured during the incident. At approximately 2:47 a.m. on Aug. 23, officers respon ded to the 1200 block of Mifflin Street for a report of a person with a gun. When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old man suffering from multiple abrasions to his head, police said. The man declined treatment at the scene and was later taken by private vehicle to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Ballistic evidence was recovered at the scene as police conducted their investigation. Then, at approximately 4:33 a.m., officers located a 33-year-old man near the 2000 block of Chestnut Street suffering from a gunshot wound to his left hip. First responders transported him to Jefferson Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said. According to officials, the preliminary investigation indicates the incident began after the 33-year-old man crashed an electric bicycle near the 1200 block of Mifflin Street, leading to an argument over possible damage to a vehicle.
