Garland Police Department is asking for the public’s help after a 12-year-old boy was left with significant injuries following a hit-and-run crash
According to GPD, the crash happened at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday when the 12-year-old was crossing the street at the intersection of Nort
h Garland Avenue and Apollo Road in the crosswalk with his electric scooter when he was struck by a white utility-style work truck.
The 12-year-old is in stable condition but sustained significant injuries.
Police describe the truck as having four doors with storage compartments along the sides of the bed. The driver was possibly a heavy-set man, with a short “buzz cut” style haircut, police said.
The driver briefly stopped following the crash but then left the scene, traveling southbound on North Garland Avenue. The truck traveled eastbound on Apollo Road before turning southbound onto North Garland Avenue.
“Even a small piece of information or video could be important in helping us with this investigation,” Garland police said.
GPD is asking the driver of the truck to please contact them, as they want to give you the opportunity to provide your side of what happened.
Anyone who witnessed the crash, saw the truck in the area, or may have dashcam footage from around the time of the crash is asked to contact the Garland Police Department. If you were driving in or around this area at approximately 8:30 a.m., we ask that you review your dashcam footage to see if you may have captured the truck before or after the crash.
