"It is because it it invites anybody with curiosity and a sense of adventure to participate."WATCH MIHIR SINHASAN'S FULL STORY: Bjorklunden celebrates 50 years with Lawrence UniversityThe campus came alive with lifelong learning, with mini-seminars, a dedication of its Boynton Chapel and a presentation of awards.It was a day of gratitude for those with a deep connection to the campus."It's wonderful, it's magical, it's gorgeous," Boynton Chapel docent Trissa Crowley said while addressing the crowd during the chapel's dedication.It was also a special day for Bjorklunden director Tom McKenzie, who visited the campus while studying at Lawrence University."It is an honor to be at this moment and watching the stewardship that's happened to date and being in the place to help carry that forward," he said.Sitting on the banks of Lake Michigan, the campus was the summer home of Donald and Winifred Boynton, who owned the property up until 1963.Legacy that is important to Bjorklunden."There's really an embarrassment of riches here when it comes to art, culture and lifelong learning too," McKenzie said.
