A deadly shooting at an Independence High School football game left nearby residents shaken, and a 15-year-old suspect was arrested miles away from the scene.The scene at Independence High School was chaotic as people tried to u nderstand what had happened after gunshots rang out nearby.Erin Foster lives a few houses down from where the suspect was arrested. She said she was in shock when she learned what had happened."I like our little neighborhood. That's kind of scary. I have, like, goosebumps. That's kind of scary. And he's 15. Oh, my." Foster said.Foster said she was on her way to her fianc's workplace when she noticed an unusual scene outside her home."We couldn't get out of the garage. There was, like, a little Hispanic family sitting over here on. I'm sorry, on the side of the garage, but there were a cop car in these undercover cars, and I was like, 'We can't get out.' So we had to ask him to move, but it was just odd 'cause then they were still here when I came back." Foster said.She said the family remained outside for an extended period of time."Just odd that there was, like, a little Hispanic family, like a little baby, and like a mom it looked like, and some two, like, toddler little girls, and it was just like, 'Why are they sitting on the side of my garage?'" Foster said.Bakersfield Police Sgt. Eric Celedon said Friday night football games are safe and acknowledged why some community members may be hesitant to attend future games."So we understand why someone would be fearful to come out, but we want to really reiterate one thing, how amazing our community is, how strong our community is, we can get through this. And I'm confident that next Friday, everybody will be back out here full force enjoying the football game as they're intended."
