Steam and Storms This Weekend

Happy Saturday, South Florida!
After a very toasty week, we go back to a more typical summertime pattern with highs in the lower 90s and a chance of afternoon storms.
Looking ahead, we stay in the summer doldrums through next week with daily rounds of “hit or miss” storms and highs in
the lower 90s. It does look like a tropical wave could bring some higher storm chances towards the end of the week. That is still several days out but it’s something I will be monitoring in the coming days.
TROPICAL UPDATE:
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring three areas in the Atlantic. The two disturbances in the Northern Atlantic are in the middle of nowhere and unlikely to develop. However, a vigorous tropical wave over Africa bears watching as it moves into the Atlantic next week. I think this has the potential to be our first long tracker of the season. However, it’s too early to speculate if this poses any long-term threat to land. This is a friendly reminder that we’re approaching the peak of the hurricane season. Next name on the list is Dolly.
