Many have penciled in the Bon Homme Cavaliers to make it to the Dakotadome at the end of the year, and on Friday night, they certainly looked like a State Championship contender. Stanley County made the trip to Tyndall knowing they would face a physical football team, and in that category, the Buffa loes showed a strong level of intensity. For head coach Max Foth, it was about making sure each defender played their assignment. However, the size of the Cavaliers was just too much to handle. Major Aarstad put the Cavs on the board with a 15-yard touchdown run capped by a successful two-point conversion. Stanley County’s Bryant Zeeb found some success through the air on the Buffaloes first drive with a deep pass to Jace Hand that put them in Cavalier territory. Though a holding penalty would halt the drive and lead to a turnover on downs. On the ensuing possession, the Cavaliers would get another score from Aarstad after a few third down conversions to make it 15-0. Bon Homme ran away with the game in the second quarter with scores from Calvin Caba, two scores by Owen Bures including a 57-yard touchdown run, and a 36-yard score on the ground from Tytan Ranek to make it 48-0. Neither team would score with the running clock in the second half as the Buffaloes fell to 0-1 on the season. To pick up a win next week, the Buffaloes will have to clean up some mental errors and limit the turnovers given away against Bon Homme. However, Foth believes his team will use this week to take a big step forward and be ready to put on a show for the home crowd next week. ...read more read less
