8-21-26- Patty’s Picks INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Patty Spitler returns with another edition of “Patty’s Picks,” this time reviewing “Mutiny,” the latest action film starring Jason Statham. Spitler said the movie delivers plenty of violence but falls short when it comes to keeping vi ewers engaged. “Does this picture pack a powerful punch?” Spitler asked during her review. Her verdict? “Not quite.” Statham plays Cole Reed, a man wrongly accused of killing his billionaire boss. As Reed seeks revenge, he ends up aboard a cargo ship, where he uncovers an international criminal operation. While the film offers the familiar action that Statham fans may expect, Spitler said its dark cinematography and repetitive action sequences were difficult to overlook. “They could’ve used a lot more lights,” Spitler said. “I understand how these sort of action films work, but this was just too much.” Spitler also criticized the movie for relying too heavily on one action sequence after another. “It’s just monotonous action scene after monotonous action scene,” she said. “There’s no break, no character development, nothing to make you care about what’s happening on screen.” Spitler acknowledged Statham’s popularity among action movie fans, particularly for his roles in “The Transporter” and “The Fast and the Furious” franchises. “Jason Statham has his fans, and they’ll probably enjoy this,” she said. “But this type of film just isn’t for me.” Spitler gave “Mutiny” 1.5 out of 5 stars. The film runs 1 hour, 35 minutes and is rated R for violence and bloody content. Her recommendation? Skip it unless you’re a die-hard Statham completist. “There are so many better options out there right now,” she said. “Save your money for something that offers more than just dark, violent action.” ...read more read less
