State authorities said they arrested a South Florida mother in connection to the death of her 18-month-old son from a drug overdose earlier this year. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirmed Friday morning that their State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication task force arrested Pearla ndria Boujolly. The 29-year-old Miami-Dade County resident faces one count of aggravated manslaughter of a child under 18 years old. FDLE said the Jan. 3 death of Boujolly’s child was the result of fentanyl exposure. Investigators said an autopsy revealed fentanyl and trace amounts of cocaine in the child’s blood. Detectives said the drugs were left in an unlocked room, and the child then came in contact with those substances. Boujolly was placed under arrest on Thursday. She is expected to appear in bond court Friday afternoon. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case, as the investigation continues.
