Front entrance of the Lincoln Children's Zoo. (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)Any time you have tree damage in your yard because of severe weather, you may want to consider donated damaged limbs and branches to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. They can be used for feeding the animals at the zoo. Spokesperson Erin Lenz told Lincoln’s Morning News on KFOR a lot of the animals at the zoo love to graze on limbs and branches with fresh leaves on them. “A lot of our animals at the zoo love to graze on fresh branches that have fresh leaves on them.  Some of them it’s a treat, some of them it’s a meal.” Tree species that are accepted by the Zoo include: ash, pear, birch, mulberry, elm, willow, hackberry, linden, aspen, honeylocust, cottonwood, catalpa and box elder. Those that are not accepted include pine, evergreen, oak, maple, cherry, apple, peach and walnut. If you have leafy branches you’d like to donate, please e-mail [email protected] to coordinate a drop off time.   ...read more read less
