Shots rang out at a Pompano Beach gas station, authorities said, sending a man to the hospital and leading deputies to take one person into custody. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene of the incident near a Marathon gas station at 220 South Dixie Highway, at around 7:45 p. m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, they located a man who was suffering from gunshot wounds. At one point, police scanners indicated that the victim was a clerk who was working at the gas station’s convenience store. However, investigators have not confirmed this information. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue units responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown. According to investigators, a possible subject was detained. Robbery investigators were also at the scene. The gas station was back open Friday morning. Employees at the gas station said they do not know anything abut what unfolded the night before. Just after 7 a.m., 7News cameras captured a green Kia Soul that has been parked next to a pump since Thursday night, but it’s unclear whether or not it’s connected to the shooting. 7News has reached out to BSO for more information. ...read more read less
