The sheriff’s office said at around 3:50 p.m., San Mateo police broadcasted a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for a silver Audi associated with an attempted robbery. Police had attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle as it entered Alameda County after crossing the San Mateo Bridge, but the vehicle did not stop. With the use of plate reader technology, sheriff’s officials said the Audi was found, and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office airplane (ALCO 2) confirmed the car’s location near Washington Avenue and Spring Lake Drive in San Leandro. ALCO 2, followed the vehicle to Grand Avenue and Lake Park in Oakland, where the suspects left the Audi and entered an awaiting black Mercedes, according to authorities. ALCO 2 tracked the Mercedes until sheriff’s deputies initiated a traffic stop on westbound I-580 near Powell Street in Emeryville, officials said. The sheriff’s office informed the Mercedes yielded and deputies conducted a “high-risk traffic stop.” That’s when the sheriff’s office said the four suspects were taken into custody. They added the circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery are being investigated by San Mateo police. ...read more read less
