If you thought Baltimore had created every Edgar Allan Poe-themed event possible, think again! Baltimore’s first -ever “Edgar Allan Row” will bring a Poe-inspired paddle event to the Inner Harbor on Oct. 10, 2026, from 4–6 p.m. Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore’s Healthy Harbor I nitiative is combining the city’s love for Edgar Allan Poe and the water into this free event for all to enjoy. Paddlers are invited to grab a canoe, rowboat, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard wearing their best Poe-inspired duds (What, doesn’t everyone have Victorian attire in their closets?) and take off from any of the public access points along the Baltimore Blueway. Participants will then paddle over to the Fells Point Waterfront for a gathering on the water near Pitango Bakery Café at South Ann and Thames Streets at 4 p.m. Not just any gathering, of course, but a spooky assembly before embarking on a journey through Baltimore Harbor featuring readings of Edgar Allan Poe classics along the way. The paddle will end at Mr. Trash Wheel with a reading of fan favorite “The Raven.” “Only in Baltimore can you combine Edgar Allan Poe with a paddle around the harbor,” said Adam Lindquist, vice president of Waterfront Partnership. “We’re hoping to see as many Poes as possible for what should be a really fun way to experience the waterfront and celebrate one of Baltimore’s most famous residents.” The thing the organizers need to know is just how many Poes will row. It matters not if fast or slow. Bring your friend or bring your foe, there’s little chance it’s called for snow. Though wind may take your new chapeau, the fun will mitigate the blow, as will, perhaps, a nice merlot. Regardless, sense of rhyme or no, the scene will make a fine tableau. Poe-inspired paddlers will gather for a group photo to capture what organizers hope will be the most Poes ever assembled on the water at one time. Paddlers who do not have their own equipment can find kayak and paddleboard rental options at several locations along the Baltimore Blueway.
