Wild! Mattel launches UNO Championship Series with $50,000 prize

A new UNO tournament will be a wild draw for fans of the popular card game.
Mattel announced Wednesday it is launching the UNO Championship Series, a live competition will transform the card game “into an adrenaline-fueled tournament with the unpredictable, chaotic fun that has made UNO a true
cultural phenomenon.”
The winner will take a $50,000 grand prize.
Qualifying rounds will be held in person and online over the next two months. The three in-person events will take place on Oct. 3 in Kissimmee, Florida; Oct. 10 in Chicago, Illinois; and Oct. 17: El Segundo, California.
Fans across the U.S. can also secure a place in the championship event through free, weekly qualifying tournaments in the UNO! Mobile app from Aug. 31 through Sept. 27. Other fans from across the globe will also be invited to compete.
The series will culminate in the UNO Championship Series Tournament in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Nov. 11, with the $50,000 grand prize on the line. The tournament will be streamed live on Twitch.

UNO released a new line of Championship Series products to coincide with the event, including a tournament card set, a championship belt and a card shuffler. All products are available now in the Mattel Shop.
