A fatal crash into a tree in Hancock County on Tuesday afternoon resulted in the death of a 19-year-old Indianapolis man, the Hancock County Sheriff's Department says. The department said in a release the crash occurred around 2: 40 p.m. near the intersection of County Roads 600 North and 350 West, just northeast of the Indianapolis Regional Airport. When deputies arrived, they found a 2001 Crown Victoria severely damaged and occupied by the driver, 19-year-old Antoine Stowers. First responders could not get a response from Stowers, and "saw no signs of life."Firefighters and EMS extricated Stowers from the car, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.Investigators believe Stowers was driving west on 600 North, "likely at a high rate of speed," when it left the roadway and crashed into the tree.Stowers was wearing a seatbelt; deputies say they do not believe drugs and alcohol are factors in the crash. The above pictures show the damage left behind on a tree following a fatal crash in Hancock County on Aug. 19, 2026.
