Foul play may have been involved in the disappearance of Chantel Brooks, the Fairfield Police Department said in a statement Tuesday. Brooks, who turned 37 last week, was last seen on July 17 at 1:45 a.m. leaving a CVS Pharmacy store in the 300 block of East Travis Boulevard in Fairfield, where s he lives. Security camera footage from Le Nain Hotel in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, where Brooks is a desk clerk, shows her leaving work at around 12:20 a.m. that night. On August 5, Fairfield Police issued a public notice of Brooks’ disappearance and requested the family’s help. Her brothers, Kevin Robinson and Omar Hasan, said in an interview that they’ve been meeting every week with Fairfield police for updates on the case. Hasan, who lives in Reno, Nevada, has been staying with family in Vallejo during the search. “When we first heard about it, we hit the ground running,” Robinson said. “Being her brothers, we’re her first line of protection … We’re all on our knees together, praying.” Brooks, who was born and raised in San Francisco, has 13 brothers and sisters, Robinson said, as well as cousins all around the Bay Area. “Any time we get a tip, we all know about it,” said Robinson, noting that he and his siblings are communicating more than they have in years. Family members have gone door-to-door in Fairfield to ask about Brooks and learn more about her life in Fairfield. They celebrated her 37th birthday with a vigil on Thursday in Fillmore-Turk Mini Park in San Francisco, said Robinson. “She’s warm and outgoing,” Robinson said. “Everyone she meets remembers her.” To date, the investigative efforts have included dozens of search warrants, multiple coordinated ground searches involving search and rescue resources through the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, as well as extensive aerial drone grid searches. The department is also working closely with the Solano County District Attorney’s Office while working through various leads in her disappearance. The public is urged to call the Fairfield Police Department at 707-428-7300 or email [email protected]. Anonymous tips can be left with the department’s Investigations Division at 707-428-7600. ...read more read less
