A letter to the editor published Saturday makes two mistakes we were taught to be common sense (“Juvenile behavior not becoming of neighbor,” Star-Advertiser). Developmental neurology has discovered that selfishness is not human nature, it is “taught” by impatient and tired parents. Normal e arly childhood neurological development is retarded by persistent stress, and the result is insecurity and finagling into adulthood.
