CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three suspected copper thieves have been arrested one week after a CMPD officer was hurt trying to stop them. 48-year-old Edward Wright, 24-year-old Shermon Brown and 37-year-old Eric Clay are facing several charges including possession of stolen goods and first degree trespas s. Clay is also charged with assault on a government official. Officers say they arrived to find them stealing copper wire on Robinson Circle in north Charlotte last Tuesday morning.
