The NYPD has identified a person of interest in the shooting that killed a 33-year-old woman, wounded a man, and sent people running from a busy Brooklyn block this week, authorities said Tuesday. Investigators are looking into whether the woman, identified as Sofronie Hartzog, of Brooklyn, and t he unidentified man may have been unintended targets. The man is expected to be OK. Jarring surveillance footage shows the block, Bergen Street and Howard Avenue in Crown Heights, flooded with people around 2 a.m. Sunday. Suddenly, people start to run from the intersection, some of them screaming. Shots are heard. More screaming. In the chaos, police say the woman and a 34-year-old man were shot — him in the stomach, her in the back. Authorities say the victims were part of a larger group when an argument broke out. The gunfire came right after. A witness said there had been a block party, and at least 100 people were in the area at the time. The NYPD previously said it was looking for two suspects in the case. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. ...read more read less
