Dog shot by driver waiting in Lawncrest fast food drivethru, police say
Aug 18, 2026
A driver was cooperating with investigators, officials said, after shooting a dog while sitting in a fast food drive-thru line in the Lawncrest section of Northeast Philly overnight.
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers responded to a Wendy’s restaurant along
the 500 block of Adams Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday after a driver in the drive-thru line shot a dog.
At the scene, he said, investigators recovered four spent shell casings.
Investigators also recovered a firearm from the driver involved in this incident, Small said.
However, contacted early Tuesday, Small was unable to provide further details about what led to this shooting and he did not immediately know the condition of the animal that was shot.
But, he said, the driver who is alleged to have shot the dog was taken in for questioning and was cooperating with police.
It is unclear if the driver will face charges in this incident.
But, NBC10 is working to learn more.
This is a breaking news story. It will be updated as new information becomes available.
