At 1:25 p.m. Friday, U.S. Highway 16A, mile marker 48: A 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 42-year-old male (Unit 1), was traveling eastbound on U.S. 16A near mile marker 48. A 2024 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 37-year-old male (Unit 2), was traveling westbound. The driver of Unit 1 was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Unit 1 crossed the center line and collided with Unit 2. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Monument Health of Rapid City.
At 1:49 p.m. Friday, Playhouse Rd near 24445 Playhouse Rd: A 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 69-year-old male, was northbound near 24445 N Playhouse Rd with a 59-year-old female passenger. The driver failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway and the motorcycle overturned. The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Monument Health of Rapid City.
At 2:07 p.m. Friday, U.S. Highway 16A, mile marker 54: A 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 63-year-old female, was westbound on U.S. 16A near mile marker 54 when the motorcycle had an equipment failure. The driver lost control, left the roadway, and was separated from the motorcycle. The driver was wearing a helmet and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Monument Health of Rapid City.
At 4:02 p.m. Friday, U.S. Highway 14A, mile marker 31: A 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 47-year-old male, was eastbound on US 14A near mile marker 31. The motorcycle had a tire failure and the driver lost control, leaving the roadway. The driver was not wearing a helmet and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Monument Health of Rapid City.
At 10:33 p.m. Friday, South Dakota Highway 44, mile marker 28: A 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by a 21-year-old male, was eastbound near mile marker 28 on SD 44. The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and left the roadway. The driver was transported to Monument Health of Rapid City with non-life-threatening injuries.
At 11:50 p.m. Friday, U.S. Highway 14A, mile marker 49: A 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 42-year-old male, was eastbound on U.S. 14A with a 27-year-old female passenger. The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The driver and passenger were separated from the motorcycle and both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was transported to Monument Health of Sturgis and the passenger declined transport.

The driver lost control of the motorcycle. The driver was transported to Lead-Deadwood Monument Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
At 9:49 a.m. Thursday, U.S. Highway 85, mile marker 32: A 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 64-year-old male, was driving northbound on U.S. 85 near mile marker 32. The motorcycle had a tire failure and the driver lost control. The driver was separated from the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Spearfish Monument Health.
At 11:18am, Thursday, Wildlife Loop mile marker 8, Custer State Park: A 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 72-year-old male, was traveling northbound on Wildlife Loop near mile marker 8 behind other motorcycles. As the motorcycles in front slowed, the driver lost control of the motorcycle, and it overturned. The driver sustained minor injuries.
At 12:18 p.m. Thursday, Interstate 190, Exit 1A, Rapid City: A 2024 Indian motorcycle, operated by a 65-year-old male, was traveling northbound on Interstate 190 with a 55-year-old female passenger. As the driver was taking Exit 1A to travel westbound on Interstate 90, he failed to negotiate the curve and lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle left the roadway, and the passenger was separated from the motorcycle. The passenger was transported to Rapid City Monument Health with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was not injured.
At 1:56 p.m. Thursday, South Dakota Highway 87, mile marker 75: A 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 20-year-old male, was traveling southbound on SD 87 near mile marker 75. The driver lost control of the motorcycle while negotiating a curve in the roadway. The motorcycle overturned and the driver was separated from the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
At 20:28 p.m. Thursday, South Dakota 79, mile marker 112: A 2016 Freightliner semi hauling a trailer, operated by a 33-year-old male, was northbound on SD 79 near the intersection with SD 34. The semi stopped and backed up into a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse, operated by a 28-year-old female. The semi pushed the Chevrolet Traverse into a 2023 Indian motorcycle, operated by a 63-year-old male, and a 2024 Indian motorcycle, operated by a 23-year-old male. Both motorcycle drivers sustained minor injuries and were transported to Sturgis Monument Health.

At 11:28 a.m. Wednesday, Wildlife Loop, mile marker 5, Custer State Park: A 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 71-year-old male (Unit 1), was northbound on Wildlife Loop near mile marker 5. A 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 69-year-old male (Unit 2), was southbound at the same location. Unit 2 was entering a corner at the center of the roadway. Unit 1 entered the southbound lane stating he was trying to avoid collision. Driver 2 swerved to the right stating he was trying to avoid collision. Both units overturned and both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Monument Health in Custer.
At 1:05 p.m. Wednesday, U.S. Highway 16A, mile marker 31: A 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 62-year-old male, was traveling eastbound near U.S. 16A mile marker 31. The driver lost control of the motorcycle in the left curve. The driver was wearing a helmet and sustained minor injuries. He declined transport and rode the motorcycle from the scene.
At 12:45 a.m. Thursday, Interstate 90, mile marker 45: A 1993 Harley- Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 58-year-old male, was driving eastbound near mile marker 45 on Interstate 90 during rainy conditions. Unit 1 lost control and left the roadway into the median. The driver was wearing a helmet and was transported to Monument Health in Rapid City with minor injuries.

At 3:22 p.m. Monday, U.S. Highway 16A, mile marker 27: A 2002 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by a 63-year-old male, was traveling westbound on U.S. 16A near mile marker 27. The motorcycle left the roadway to the right, entered the westbound ditch, and overturned. The driver became separated from the motorcycle. The driver sustained fatal injuries.
At 3:34 p.m. Monday, Deerfield Road and Marshall Gulch Road, Pennington County: A 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 46-year-old male, was driving northbound on Deerfield Road near Marshal Gulch Road. The motorcycle passed a vehicle in a no-passing zone. The driver lost control when returning to its lane. The motorcycle entered the northbound ditch and rolled. The driver was not wearing a helmet and sustained fatal injuries.
Injury Crashes:
At 9:45 a.m. Monday, U.S. Highway 14A, mile marker 25: A 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by a 44-year-old female, was driving westbound on U.S. 14A near mile marker 25. The driver lost control of the motorcycle and became separated from the vehicle. The driver was wearing a helmet and was transported to Lead-Deadwood Monument Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
At 1:20 p.m. Monday, Wildlife Loop, mile marker 15, Custer State Park: 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 64-year-old male (Unit 1), was traveling southbound on Wildlife Loop near mile marker 15 with a group of motorcycles. The motorcycles in front of Unit 1 slowed. Driver 1 attempted to avoid collision and overturned the motorcycle. The driver was separated from the motorcycle. He sustained minor injuries and refused transport.
At 1:26 p.m. Monday, South Dakota Highway 244, mile marker 30: A 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 40-year-old male (Unit 1), was westbound on SD Highway 244 at mile marker 30. Unit 1 was negotiating a right-hand curve on a grade when the driver lost control and crossed the center line. A 2025 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 72-year-old male (Unit 2), was eastbound at this location with a 69-year-old female passenger. Unit 1 struck the side of Unit 2. All occupants sustained injuries and were transported Monument Health in Rapid City.
At 3:05 p.m. Monday, Nemo Road and Old Ridge Road: A 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 69-year-old male, was traveling east on Nemo Road. The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. He became separated from the motorcycle and left the roadway. He was transported to Monument Health in Rapid City with serious injuries.
At 3:30 p.m. Monday, U.S. Highway 16, mile marker 15: A 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 52-year-old male, was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 16 near mile marker 15. The driver lost control and slid into the north side ditch. The driver was separated from the unit and was transported to Monument Health in Custer for his injuries.
At 3:35 p.m. Monday, Junction Avenue and Park Street, Sturgis: A 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 46-year-old male (Unit 2), was stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of Junction Avenue and Park Street going southbound with a 47-yearold female passenger. A 2023 Toyota GR 86 passenger car, operated by a 27-year-old male (Unit 1), was southbound on Junction Avenue toward Park Street. Unit 1 struck the rear of Unit 2. A 2024 Honda HR-V SUV, operated by a 73-year-old female (Unit 3), was in the intersection of Park St and Junction Ave. Unit 1 struck the rear of Unit 2 and pushed it into Unit 3. Unit 2’s passenger was transported to Monument Health in Sturgis with non-life-threatening injuries.
At 4:15 p.m. Monday, S Rochford Road and Divide Road: A 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by an 82-year-old male, was traveling northbound on S Rochford Road. The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The motorcycle tripped and the driver was separated from the motorcycle. The rider was wearing a helmet. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Monument Health.
At 10:06 p.m. Monday, Vanocker Canyon Road and Galena Road: A 2024 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 29-year-old male, was driving south on Vanocker Canyon Road near the intersection of Galena Road. The driver failed to negotiate the left curve and went off the road. The driver was separated from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and was transported to Monument Health in Rapid City with serious injuries.
At 1:11 a.m. Tuesday, Sheridan Lake Road and Laveeda Drive: A 2019 Polaris RZR ATV, operated by a 42-year-old male, was traveling northbound on Laveeda Drive in Rapid City. The vehicle was traveling with three male passengers, ages 60, 32, and 56. The vehicle turned west on Sheridan Lake Road. The driver lost control and the vehicle overturned. The driver and two passengers sustained serious injuries and were transported to Monument Health in Rapid City. The third passenger was uninjured.

A 2009 GMC Yukon SUV, operated by a 43-year-old female, (Unit 2) was traveling southbound on Deadwood Ave. Unit 1 did not yield and collided with Unit 2 on the driver’s side of the vehicle as it turned. Both the driver and passenger of Unit 1 were transported to Monument Health Rapid City with non-life-threatening injuries
At 6:35 p.m. Sunday, South Dakota Highway 79, mile marker 61: A 2017 Chevrolet Trax SUV, operated by a 51-year-old female (Unit 1), turned north on SD 79 from Gumbo Lilly in front of a 2001 Jeep Wrangler SUV, operated by a 62-year-old male (Unit 2). Unit 2 had a 69-year-old female passenger. Unit 1 slowed due to a male being in the roadway. Unit 2 attempted to avoid a collision but collided with Unit 1. The passenger of Unit 2 received minor injuries.
At 7:54 p.m. Sunday, U.S. Highway 385, mile marker 118: A 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 51-year-old male, was traveling southbound near mile marker 118 on U.S. 385 with a 51-year-old female passenger. A deer entered the roadway and was struck by the motorcycle. Both the driver and passenger were transported to Lead-Deadwood Monument Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
At 6:03 p.m. Sunday, U.S. Highway 16, mile marker 39: A 1993 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 32-year-old male (Unit 1), was traveling west on U.S. 16 near mile marker 39. A 1972 Pontiac LeMans passenger car, operated by a 77-year-old male (Unit 2), did not yield and crossed U.S. 16 from Reno Gulch Rd in front of Unit 1. Unit 1 collided with the side of Unit 2. Unit 1’s driver was separated from his motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet and was transported to Monument Health of Rapid City with non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 4:41 p.m. Saturday, U.S. 85, mile marker 35: A 2003 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle, operated by a 72-year-old male, was traveling north on U.S. 85 near mile marker 35. The driver braked when approaching a turning motorcycle in front of him. The driver lost control of the vehicle and became separated from the motorcycle. The driver was transported to Monument Health in Spearfish. The driver sustained fatal injuries.
Injury Crashes:
At 9:19 a.m. Saturday, US Highway 16A, mile marker 33: A 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by a 68-year-old male (Unit 1) was driving westbound on US 16A near MM 33. A 2026 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by a 60-year-old male (Unit 2) was driving westbound in front of Unit 1 with a 61-year-old female passenger. Unit 2 slowed for traffic and Unit 1 was unable to slow and collided with the rear of Unit 2. All riders were wearing helmets and received non-life-threatening injuries.
At 11:20 a.m. Saturday, N Rochford Rd and US 14A: A 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 67-year-old male, was traveling in a group, northbound on N Rochford Rd, near its intersection with US 14A. The driver entered a left curve and lost control. The driver became separated from the motorcycle and came to final rest on the northbound shoulder. He was not wearing a helmet. He was life-flighted to Rapid City Monument Health with serious injuries.
At 11:46 a.m. Saturday, US Highway 14A, mile marker 32: A 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 59-year-old male, was driving eastbound on Highway 14A near mile marker 32. The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and enter the ditch. The driver was separated from his motorcycle. The driver was transported to Lead-Deadwood Monument Health for treatment of his injuries.
At 4:50 p.m. Saturday, US Highway 14A, mile marker 47: A 2026 Harley-Davidson motorcycle (Unit 1), operated by a 54-year-old male, was traveling east on US 14A. An unidentified vehicle was westbound and crossed the center of the roadway, making contact with the male driver of Unit 1. The driver of Unit 1 was transported to Monument Health for treatment of his injuries.
At 6:32 p.m. Saturday, South Dakota Highway 44, mile marker 34: A 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 39-year-old male, (Unit 1) was traveling westbound near mile marker 34 on South Dakota 44 with a 28-year-old female passenger. A 2019 Subaru Forester, operated by a 66-year-old female (Unit 2), was in front of Unit 1 attempting to make a left turn. Unit 1 switched lanes and collided with Unit 2 as it turned. Driver 2 was transported to Monument Health for treatment of minor injuries.
At 6:48 p.m. Saturday, US Highway 16, mile maker 59: A 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 69-year-old male, was westbound on US 16 near mile marker 59. The motorcycle’s rear tire failed, and the driver was unable to maintain control and became separated from the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet and was transported to Monument Health for treatment of his injuries.
At 7:34 p.m. Saturday, South Dakota Highway 44, mile marker 59: A 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 45-year-old female (Unit 1), was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 and was took exit 59. A 2007 Toyota Camry, operated by a 60-year-old female (Unit 2), was in front of Unit 1 and was slowing. Driver 1 lost control of the motorcycle and became separated from the motorcycle. Unit 1 collided with the rear of Unit 1. Driver 1 was not wearing a helmet and was transported to Monument Health in Rapid City for treatment of her injuries.
