Forward progress has been stopped on the Sorrento Fire that is burning near the canyon between Sorrento Valley Boulevard and Carmel Mountain Road, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. There is an evacuation order for zone SDC-1444. The temporary evacuation point is at 4161 Eastgate Mall. Evacuation warnings had been issued for zones SDC-1399, SDC-1400, SDC-1401, SDC-1442, SDC-1443, SDC-1446, SDC-1492 and SDC-1494, but all have since been lifted. The San Diego Police closed the following roads: 10800 Vista Sorrento Pkwy Sorrento Valley Boulevard Jasmine Crest Lane Traffic will resume gradually as fire personnel leave, SDPD said in a post to X. The fire was first reported at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Around 4:40 p.m., the fire was estimated at 131 acres with a moderate rate of spread. Cal Fire San Diego was on scene with a fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. A total of 54 units and 160 fire personnel were assigned. The fire is 15 percent contained, and forward rate of spread was stopped around 7 p.m., according to SDFD.
