A 53-year-old New Havener bicyclist died after a hit-and-run in the Hill Friday night. The New Haven Police Department (NHPD) posted about that fatal collision on the social media site X on Saturday morning. The press release states that police officers were dispatched to the area of Howard Av enue and 2nd Street on Friday at 11:16 p.m. on the report of a motor vehicle collision involving a bicyclist; “the vehicle fled the scene following the collision.” Upon arrivals, officers found a man in roadway, “unresponsive and suffering from apparent injuries.” The 53-year-old man was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he died. “The initial investigation indicates that the bicyclist was attempting to cross the street when he was struck.
