INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) On Saturday afternoon, the White House signed an emergency disaster declaration for Indiana. The approval makes up to $5 million in federal assistance available to support emergency response efforts across t he state.The federal declaration will help cover eligible emergency response costs, including many of the operations already underway across Indiana. Federal assistance can support water rescues, sandbagging and other flood-fighting efforts, evacuations and shelters, emergency supplies, medical transportation, emergency access and moving equipment and resources into impacted communities.This assistance is for Allen, Bartholomew, Boone, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Dearborn, Decatur, Delaware, Fayette, Fountain, Franklin, Fulton, Grant, Hamilton, Hancock, Harrison, Hendricks, Henry, Jasper, Jay, Jefferson, Jennings, Knox, Kosciusko, Lake, LaPorte, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Miami, Morgan, Newton, Orange, Owen, Parke, Perry, Pike, Porter, Pulaski, Randolph, Ripley, Rush, Shelby, St. Joseph, Starke, Tipton, Union, Wabash, Warren, Washington, Wayne and White counties.According to a release from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Darrin Ricketts has been named the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal response operations.DHS confirmed there has been six-weather-related deaths since Tuesday.My heart is with the families and loved ones of the five Hoosiers we have lost and every family whose life has been changed by these storms.
