Syracuse, N.Y. — More than 10,000 people showed up for Mary Nelson’s annual back-to-school giveaway Saturday, as families lined up for hours under the blazing sun to pick out backpacks, school supplies, sneakers, clothing, fresh produce and cleaning supplies.
