DREW 8/15/26 AM TODAY The weekend starts unsettled once again. Another cluster of showers and thunderstorms may move into central Indiana during the morning, with additional scattered activity possible into the afternoon. There should be dry breaks, so this does not look like continuo us rain from sunrise to sunset, but the ground is already saturated from this week’s heavy rainfall and even another quick downpour could aggravate ongoing flooding problems. A Flood Watch remains in effect for much of central Indiana through Saturday evening. Highs around Indianapolis should reach the lower to middle 80s, with cloud cover potentially keeping temperatures down in places that see more morning rain.  The primary concern with Saturday’s storms is heavy rainfall rather than a widespread severe-weather outbreak. The atmosphere remains extremely moisture-rich, so any thunderstorm could produce a quick torrent of rain. Gusty winds or hail cannot be completely ruled out in a stronger storm, but flooding, especially around creeks, rivers, low spots and already saturated neighborhoods, is the hazard to keep in mind throughout the day. TONIGHT Any lingering shower or thunderstorm should gradually diminish during the evening. Skies remain mostly cloudy with lows in the low 70s and light southwest winds. The immediate flash-flooding threat should ease as rainfall coverage decreases, although rivers and larger streams may remain elevated well after the rain stops.  TOMORROW Heat and humidity build quickly ahead of an approaching cold front. Temperatures jump to around 90 degrees, and the humidity may push heat-index values to over 100 during the afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms become increasingly possible after about 2 p.m. The atmosphere will again contain plenty of moisture and instability, meaning storms could produce torrential rain and perhaps some stronger wind gusts. With already saturated soil, additional heavy rain could renew localized flooding problems.  TOMORROW NIGHT Showers and thunderstorms remain possible as the front works through central Indiana. Lows fall to around 70 degrees, with clouds remaining plentiful. Rain coverage should gradually become less organized later in the night as cooler and drier air begins arriving from the northwest.  MONDAY A noticeable change finally arrives. Aside from a very small early shower chance, expect partly sunny skies, lower humidity and a high near 85 degrees. A light north wind ushers in much more comfortable air. After several days of storms and flooding concerns, Monday looks like the beginning of a much-needed break.  MONDAY NIGHT Partly cloudy and considerably more comfortable with lows in the mid 60s. The lower humidity should make it one of the nicer nights we’ve had recently.  TUESDAY The quiet stretch continues with mostly sunny skies, comfortable humidity and highs in the mid 80s. Winds remain light and there are no meaningful daytime rain concerns. Tuesday should be one of the best days of the forecast for outdoor plans.  7 DAY FORECAST The main weather impacts remain concentrated this weekend. Saturday brings another opportunity for thunderstorms and locally heavy rain, which could worsen ongoing flooding because soils and waterways are already saturated. Sunday turns hotter and very humid, with heat indices potentially topping 100 before another round of afternoon and evening thunderstorms develops. A cold front finally clears the area Sunday night, opening the door to a much quieter Monday and Tuesday with highs in the lower to middle 80s and noticeably lower humidity. Storm chances return Wednesday as another disturbance crosses the region, but drier and cooler conditions should follow again Thursday and Friday, with highs potentially falling back into the upper 70s by the end of the workweek. ...read more read less
