Two officers shot on Indy’s west side INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer was released from the hospital after being shot Friday afternoon. Another was last reported to be stable still in the hospital with a gunshot wound to a limb, according to IMPD Chief Tanya Terry. IMPD said at about 2:30 Friday afternoon, IMPD SWAT officers served a narcotics warrant in the 300 block of North Flemming Street when a suspect believed to be on parole for dealing narcotics, fired at them, injuring two officers. Terry said the suspect opened fire as soon as the officers exited the armored vehicle. The suspect then retreated into a home as officers returned fire. After crisis negotiators talked to the suspect, they surrendered at about 3:15 p.m. The person was struck by gunfire and was last reported to be stable and in police custody. IMPD said they do not believe there is a public safety threat any longer.
