INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) Heavy rain drenched central Indiana this week, with some areas receiving more than a foot of water over a three-day period.The National Weather Service in Indianapolis released rainfall totals Friday afterno on, covering the period from the morning of Tuesday through Friday morning.Modoc in Randolph County saw the highest total in the region, receiving 12.09 inches of rain by 7 a.m. Friday. Other significant totals happened nearby, including 11.80 inches by 8 a.m. Friday in New Castle and 11.48 inches by 7 a.m. Friday in Springport. Anderson in Madison County also surpassed the 10-inch mark, recording 10.40 inches by 7 a.m. Friday.The storm system brought several inches of rain to dozens of other communities. In Tipton County, 5 miles southwest of Tipton, 7.75 inches fell by 4:45 a.m. Friday.In Decatur County, 7.05 inches fell by 7 a.m. Friday in Greensburg.Other notable rainfall totals through Friday morning included: 6.49 inches by 7 a.m. in Millhousen (Jennings County). 6.23 inches by 8 a.m. in Russiaville (Howard County). 6.11 inches by 12:55 p.m. west of Lapel (Hamilton County). 5.97 inches by 7 a.m. in Newport (Vermillion County). 5.16 inches by 7 a.m. in Homer (Rush County). 5.05 inches by 12:55 p.m. in Wilkinson (Hancock County). 4.92 inches by 7 a.m. in Little Lake (Clinton County). 4.83 inches by 7 a.m. in Covington (Fountain County).The rain continued to accumulate across the central part of the state through Friday afternoon. In Parke County, Judson saw 4.70 inches by 12:58 p.m. Friday. Shelbyville recorded 4.40 inches by 7 a.m. Friday, while Lafayette in Tippecanoe County saw 4.30 inches by 7:30 a.m. Friday.In the Indianapolis metro area, Millersville in Marion County recorded 4.24 inches by 6:15 a.m. Friday.
